Privacy Policy for Humans

No legal jargon. No confusing terms. Just the truth about your data.

The TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read)

We collect your email and usage data. We use it to make the product work and make it better. We never sell your data. You can delete your account anytime and all your data is gone.

That's it. Everything else on this page explains the details. If you have questions, just email us at privacy@interviewglitch.com

What Data Do We Collect?

We collect less than most apps

We don't track everything you do online. We don't sell data to advertisers. We just collect what we need to provide the service.

Account Information

When you sign up, we ask for your email and password. That's it. We don't ask for your phone number, location, or real name unless you voluntarily share it.

Usage Data

We track which features you use, how often you use them, and which interview types you practice. This helps us improve the product. We don't track: websites you visit, apps on your computer, or anything outside InterviewGlitch.

Interview Data

When you practice interviews, we record the transcription and your responses to improve our AI. Your interview recordings are temporary by default and deleted after 30 days. If you save them, they stay until you delete them.

Technical Data

We collect your IP address (to prevent abuse), browser type, and crash reports. This helps us keep the service running smoothly.

Email Address

To create your account and send you important updates about your account or the service.

Usage Analytics

Which features you use, interview practice history, and performance metrics to improve the product.

Interview Content

Transcriptions and responses from practice interviews. You control how long we keep this data.

Technical Info

IP address, device type, browser, and crash reports for security and troubleshooting.

How Do We Use Your Data?

To Provide the Service

We use your data to make InterviewGlitch work. We keep your account secure, save your progress, and deliver the features you're using.

To Improve the Product

We analyze how you use InterviewGlitch to figure out what works and what doesn't. We use this to build better features and fix problems.

To Send You Email

We send you important emails about your account (password resets, billing, etc.). We only send you marketing emails if you ask for them. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime with one click.

To Keep You Safe

We monitor for suspicious activity to prevent fraud and abuse. We also use data to comply with laws (like when law enforcement requests information).

What We DON'T Do

  • We never sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
  • We never share your data for marketing. Your email isn't on any marketing lists.
  • We never use your data for ad targeting. We don't have ads, and we don't help other companies target you.
  • We never train AI models on your data. Your interview practice sessions are never used to train our AI models without permission.

Who Can See Your Data?

Our Team

Our small team of engineers and support staff can access your data if needed to help you or fix technical problems. All team members have signed confidentiality agreements.

Third-Party Services

We use a few trusted companies to help us run the service:

  • Cloud hosting (AWS): Stores your data securely
  • Payment processing (Stripe): Processes your payments (they only see what's needed for billing)
  • Email service (SendGrid): Sends you emails
  • Analytics (Mixpanel): We check how the product is used (anonymized)

All these companies have their own privacy policies and are under contract with us to keep your data safe.

Law Enforcement

If the government asks for your data through a valid legal process, we'll comply. But we'll fight requests that seem wrong and tell you whenever we can.

Who Can't See Your Data

InterviewGlitch competitors, advertisers, data brokers, and random third parties can't see your data. Period.

How Long Do We Keep Your Data?

Interview Recordings 30 days by default (you can delete sooner). If you save them, they stay until you delete them.

Request a copy of all your data. We'll send it to you in a readable format.

Fix Errors

Ask us to correct any wrong information we have about you.

Delete Everything

Ask us to delete your account and all your data. It's gone within 30 days.

Ask us to stop using your data for certain purposes (like analytics).

Withdraw Consent

If you change your mind about something you said yes to, tell us to stop.

How to Exercise Your Rights

How Safe Is Your Data?

We take security seriously. Here's what we do:

  • Encryption: Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption
  • Secure Infrastructure: We use trusted cloud providers with enterprise-grade security
  • Local API Keys: Your AI provider API keys are stored locally on your device, not in the cloud
  • Two-Factor Authentication: You can add an extra layer of security to your account
  • Backups: We backup your data in case something breaks
  • Monitoring: We monitor for suspicious activity to keep your data safe

But nothing is 100% secure. If there's ever a breach, we'll tell you right away and explain what happened.

If You're Outside the USA

EU (GDPR)

If you're in the EU, you have extra rights under GDPR. We respect your privacy rights and work to provide transparent data handling practices. You have all the rights listed above to access, modify, and delete your data.

California (CCPA)

California residents have special privacy rights. You can ask to see what we know about you, delete it, or opt out of certain uses. We don't sell your data, so you don't need to worry about that.

Other Countries

If you're somewhere else, your local privacy laws still apply. Email us if you're unsure about your rights.

What If We Change This Policy?

We might update this policy sometimes. When we do, we'll tell you via email (if it's important). If you disagree with the changes, you can delete your account before they take effect.

We'll never use your data in a way that's way different from what we said without asking you first.
